To promote the existence and welfare of the collegiate bands and to create a respect and appreciation for band activities and achievements among the listening public everywhere
As a service organization, completing service projects is our upmost priority as a chapter. Our biggest and most visible service project is taking care of Marching Mizzou's uniforms. We fit all of Marching Mizzou during band camp, make sure everyone has all their uniform parts while handling plumes on gamedays and we spend the rest of the year cleaning and organizing them so they are ready to be used again by the next marching season. Here are some other local service projects and national Tau Beta Sigma programs we have recently completed:
Promoting the Bandswomen's Networking Program, a national TBS program that seeks to provide women music educators with a place to network and discuss their educational process.
Hosting Women in Music speakers, which provides an opportunity for women in the music profession to share their experiences
Hosting Crescendo which aims to encourage younger musicians to keep playing and performing, at local after-school programs to introduce instrumental music to elementary schoolers
Making "Rookie Cookies" to pass out to new marchers during their first day of band camp
Selling merchandise for the School of Music and volunteering at Marching Mizzou's Champion of Champions marching festival
Setting up and putting away chairs and stands for concert band rehearsals and concerts with our Kappa brothers
Sponsoring and hosting Marching Mizzou activities with our Kappa brothers such as an ice cream social for new members and the Marching Mizzou band camp pool party
